Club San Andrés
Club San Andrés, simply known as San Andrés, is a sports club from the Olivos neighborhood of Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. Although other sports are also practised at the club (such as football and field hockey) San Andrés is mostly known for its rugby union team, which currently plays in the Torneo de la URBA Grupo II, the second division of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires.
==History==
In 1838, Saint Andrew's Scots School (in (スペイン語:"Colegio San Andrés")) was established by a group of Scottish settlers determined to educate their children in their language, faith and culture. Originally founded as a boys school, Saint Andrews would become co-educational soon after.
In 1911, Club San Andrés was founded, as a social and sporting club for students, alumni and friends of the school. The first activities practised at the club were rugby union, field hockey, swimming, football and sailing. Rugby was one of the original sports played at the club when it was founded in 1911. The team had not played in the first division until 2009, when San Andrés won the promotion to the top level after defeating Universitario de La Plata 18–5.〔("San Andrés, histórico" ), A Pleno Rugby.com〕〔("San Andrés es de Primera", official website ), 2009-11-02〕
Thanks to its Scottish heritage, Club San Andrés has the particularity of being one of the few clubs in South America to own their own Tartan.
